ABOUT BLUE CROSS, AND WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE

Blue Cross is a charity that has been helping sick, injured, abandoned and homeless pets since 1897. Blue Cross helps all pets, not just dogs. The charity strives to help animals of all different sizes and types to try and find a new home. Most dogs are handed in to Blue Cross - by owners who know they cannot look after their dog anymore, or by people who have found a stray dog. Your donations to Blue Cross will help the charity 'continue caring for sick, injured and abandoned pets, and last year Blue Cross' Veterinary Services helped 31,321 pets at the charity's hospitals and clinics, in addition to 9.253 pets helped by the charity's rehoming services, as well as helping 12,966 grieving people with the charity's Pet Bereavement Support Service. Blue Cross finds 'new families for homeless pets','free veterinary treatment' to pets, as well as providing educational talks across the UK and supporting grieving pet owners. Many of the 'normal fundraising activities' that are held by Blue Cross 'are on hold because of Covid-19', hence why it is very important to donate and support the charity since Blue Cross is 'relying on your generous donations more than ever'.

OUR JUDGES

We have some special guests who will be judging our categories.

We are delighted to be supported by Mark Beazley, who will be judging your entries. Mark is the CEO of the UK's largest organisation dedicated to the welfare of dogs, The Kennel Club. Mark has also been the Director of Operations for Cats Protection which is the UK's largest cat welfare charity. Mark has also worked at Dogs Trust Ireland as Executive Director and prior to this he was Chief Executive with the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA). He has also chaired a number of high profile working groups including the Companion Animal Working Group at Eurogroup for Animals and the International Greyhound Forum and he was heavily involved in the establishment of the EU Cat and Dog Alliance.

We are thrilled to announce that Les Dixon from Mountgrace Gundogs will also be a judge for the online dog show. Les Dixon has been a professional gundog trainer for over twenty five years. He has been touring the country show circuit with his dogs for the last six years. Originally based near Mount Grace Priory in North Yorkshire from where the gundog team gets its name he now lives and works a few miles away in East Harlsey and has a gundog training ground in mixed woodland near East Rounton.
